Hope UMC celebrated its Annual Pet
Blessing Sunday in October. We could
invite the pets, count legs and divide the total by two to get an inflated
attendance number—but there is a serious side to the blessing Sunday. Each year it is our way of celebrating the
relationships that enrich our lives along with a God whose love is so big it
comes to us in seemingly endless forms.
In fact, God’s love is so big it can fit into hamsters and guinea
pigs. God’s love is so expansive it can
reach to bless animals in absentia and via photos. God’s love is so great that God can use the
nuzzle of a wet nose, a purr or even flower blossoms, ripe harvests or sweet,
round apples to remind us life is a gift to be appreciated and savored. I invite you to enjoy a few of the picture
from animal blessing and consider bringing your pet next year if you and your
pet have never been part of such a service.
Wishing Shalom to All
God’s Creatures,
Pastor Roger
