Recently,
Chele and I were shooting pictures at the Como Conservatory. We reached the floating gardens—a room filled
with glorious, blooming flowers in every color of the rainbow in March. Suddenly I was thinking of Easter—NEW LIFE,
HEAVENLY BEAUTY, and EARTHLY TRANFORMATION.
We took over 500 digital photos.
There’s a place in the garden that speaks of the empty tomb. Tears came to my eyes for beauty of it. Easter Sunday you’ll have the chance to
experience that image of the empty tomb and the fresh rainbow of blooms.

But, the story does not end here. While Chele continued taking photos I was
sitting in stillness when suddenly, yet ever so gently, the image of the angels
at the Jesus tomb came into view. They
were a lovely, older couple on a bench, surrounded by a rainbow of
flowers. Their demeanor spoke of prayer,
hope, and reverence in a way words can’t convey. I ended up coaxing Chele to come with me and
see if she could take their picture.
Easter Sunday, you will hear their story. Chele went back to taking pictures; I went to
the next room to escape the pollen that seems to come with flowered grandeur. The elderly couple walked by me and I thanked
them again for the gift they’d given us of letting us take their picture. The woman spoke words that left me
speechless. I tried to tell Chele their
story in the conservatory…and choked up.
I tried to tell her when we got outside and could not get the words
out. All the way home I kept trying to tell their story without being
overwhelmed by tears…of wonder and awe.
Easter Sunday you will see their faces hear the story that left me
speechless. IT IS THE STORY OF THE ANGELS at the EASTER TOMB! In the meantime, I ask a favor of you. Complete the one of the following
sentences. Bring your answer to church
on Easter if you wish to share a sentence during our prayer time.
NEW
LIFE IS…
LETTING
GO OF HURT MEANS…
One hymn writer put it this
way. “Because he lives, I can face
tomorrow.” We’ll share our thoughts during praying time at the 9:30 service. I hope to see you then.
God’s Peace,
Pastor Roger
